ABOUT
Hazel Travers is a multi-instrumentalist MEDIA composer based in the South West of the UK. With a background in viola, piano and guitar, her music blends traditional and contemporary influences, often leaning into darker emotional landscapes and atmospheric textures.
She holds an MA in Composition of Music for Film and Television from Bristol University, where she studied under industry professionals including William Goodchild and Tess Tyler. Hazel’s work is shaped by a wide-ranging love of music — from the raw expressiveness of medieval vocal music and the elegance of baroque and early classical forms, to ambient dark electronica and the intensity of heavy metal.
Hazel brings a unique voice to her compositions for media, drawing on this eclectic mix of styles to create emotionally resonant scores that enrich the stories they accompany. She is passionate about immersing herself fully in a character’s emotional world, using music as a vehicle to express their inner life in sonic form.
During her time at Bristol University, she collaborated with the BBC Natural History Unit and the Bristol Ensemble—thanks to Nikki Waldron—re-scoring, producing, and conducting a short piece for live performance.
She went on to compose the score for Still A-Dancing, a documentary co-produced by Impermanence Dance Theatre, and has since worked across genres on a range of national and international short films. Her recent credits include Red Paint (dir. Amy Eve), Fight or Flight (dir. Leanna Fernandez), Signature (dir. Nick Zefara), Time Sink (dir. Kyle Zanika), Circosis, and The Keening Lady.
Hazel regularly collaborates with the award-winning VFX studio Lux Aeterna, composing bespoke music for their cinematic showreels. Her work spans horror, sci-fi, and drama, often exploring dark textures, emotional nuance, and immersive sound worlds.
